He started the Suburban in 1959 when the town was relatively young, and ran it until 1986 when he sold it as a result of complications with his Diabetes and a Stroke suffered in 1980, stemming from an excessive amount of cigars, drinks and food (the lifestyle of the older twentied century publisher).
His 1986 retirement was short spent, and in 1989 started a new publication called the duncanvillite, with the intentional little d to signify the juxtaposition to Dallas which is Big D, and was considered to be what would be handed down to Quincy to be the next publisher. He later passed on in 1991.
The Little d was also his prized column which he often mocked city officials, taunted local celebrities and of course told little bits and pieces of Quincy's life among others, which actually was why Quincy's middle name is "dee" to essentially be named after his father's column. Lillian helped managed both publications until the duncanvillite discontinued in 1990 and is now currently employed with the Army Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES), as a purchasing assistant for the base exchanges.
Quincy’s maternal family is mainly from South Texas, in the Uvalde and Gulf Coast region. His paternal grandparents are from the Palo Pinto area. All of his grandparents have departed, but many of his aunts on his mother side kind of take that place of grandparents, who may be attending as well. Foremost being his Aunt Bobbie and Aunt Ellen, not to mention his Aunt Dorothy.
